The French Riding Pony Association.
The French Riding Pony Association is a membership-based association which was founded in 1969. The primary objectives of the “ANPFS” are :
- to maintain the French Riding Pony Stud-Book
- to organise the stallions gradings
- to organise the yearly Sologn’Pony Show
The Sologn’Pony Show is a big event which is held in August in the centre of France, two hours south of Paris in the Federal riding facilities of Lamotte Beuvron. This breeding and competition show includes :
- The National French Riding Pony Breed Championship
- National Breed Championship of other breeds (New Forest, Welsh Pony…)
- The National Final for young show jumping ponies (4, 5 and 6 years old) and a Show Jumping Competition for young ponies who are not in the Finals
A Show Jumping competition for stallions and mares of 7 years old and over
The “French Riding Pony” approved stallions must be registered in the breed Stud Book or in either one of the accepted pony breeds Stud Books. All stallions must be approved by a stallion licensing commission.
The managing board of the ANPFS includes : one president assisted by two vice presidents, two assistants, one treasurer and one assistant treasurer. In 2007, the association had more than 400 members.
The members are breeders, owners and riders of French riding ponies.
Every year, the Association is represented in various shows such as the Horse Shows of Lyon, Avignon, Paris, and the Agricultural Show of Paris.
A newsletter is published six times for a year and provides an up to date list of ponies for sale. This list is also available at every show on this site and on request.
